In bed with… Damien Woolnough

You probably know them as a by-line, a name on a swing tag or a mention in the social pages but we know them as the coolest kids in town. They’re the fashion insiders who hardly ever get to face the spotlight. So we’ve decided to put them there. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite people to discuss their lives, loves and passions and the first brave soul out of the gate is the handsome Damien Woolnough.

Damien is the Fashion Editor for The Australian, former Editor of and contributor to Vogue Australia (amongst others) and is certainly a sartorially superior gentleman.

We caught up with him over a delicious dinner at Saké to find out what really makes him tick.

Star sign… Aries.

Reading… Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, it’s about Henry VIII.

Listening to… anything by Robyn, love bubblegum pop.

Shopping at… ‘Meanwhile’ in Elizabeth Bay.

Coveting… a Cartier watch.

Blog I’m loving… ‘The Cut’, New York Magazine’s fashion blog.

Planning… a New York wedding.

People always ask me about… ‘was working at Vogue like the devil wears prada?’

The one collectors item I would love to own is… Issue number one of Uncanny Xmen.

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be? Cary Grant, even Cary Grant wanted to be Cary Grant.

How did you get your big break? Edwina McCann published my first story in The Australian. And I believe persistence and manners go a long way.

Writing about fashion is… a living.

Well there you have it folks. Stay tuned because we’ll be bringing our next guest to you real soon.

Who would you like to hear from?
