cdl Icon: Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993)

Remembered not only for her timeless looks but stellar performances on the silver screen is Belgium born beauty and cdl’s much loved muse Audrey Hepburn.

Daughter of an English banker and Dutch baroness, she enjoyed an affluent lifestyle from a young age, laying the foundations for an acting career which would see her play iconic characters exuding class and sophistication.

In 1997, she was named in Empire Magazine’s Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time, solidifying her amongst the ranks of Hollywood’s greats. Our favourite on-screen Hepburn moment is undoubtedly her rendition of ‘Moon River’ in the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s in which she played society girl, Holly Golightly. Other notable roles included her Oscar winning portrayal of Princess Ann in Roman Holiday and Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady.

Noted for her stunning looks which have transcended time, Miss Hepburn was also named as one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. The definition of old Hollywood glamour, her classic beauty and elegant style continues to inspire today.

Adding philanthropist to her long list of titles, Audrey also acted as ambassador for UNICEF to provide support and care for children in Latin America and Africa during her later life, until she passed away in 1993.

We will never forget the radiant and sophisticated screen siren who defined an era. Audrey Hepburn, you will always have a place in our hearts.
